Counter Arena: Debate Competition Organised by SoarX JMI

The Grand Annual Debate Competition, the first ever event by SoarX JMI Cultural Society on 5th Novembor 2024, brought students together to explore critical issues that challenge our viewpoints and inspire deep thinking. This inaugural event by SoarX deserves commendation for successfully fostering intellectual and cultural engagement. The competition provided a valuable platform for participants to showcase eloquence, reasoning, and constructive discourse on subjects impacting our lives and society.

Each participant actively initiated and presented their arguments, demonstrating impressive dedication through well-researched and persuasive viewpoints. In each debate round, pairs argued both for and against the motion, encouraging a balanced exploration of each topic and fostering critical thinking.

Following the initial arguments, each pair engaged in a rebuttal session, directly addressing and challenging opponents’ points, allowing participants to refine their arguments in real time. Esteemed judges, Miss Shafaque Zehra and Miss Diya Bisht, lent their invaluable expertise, assessing each speaker’s content, clarity, rebuttal strength, and presentation. Their feedback not only guided the winners but offered participants valuable insights for improvement.

The audience’s presence and engagement added an uplifting spirit to the event, creating a supportive environment that motivated participants to perform at their best. Thought-provoking topics challenged participants to engage with current issues, encouraging both social awareness and critical reasoning. Yasir Ali Zaidi and Gulkesh bagged the coveted first prize while Mizan Ali and Md Mubasshur Raza won the second prize. The third prize was won by Laiyba Sirat and Bhoomika Chaudhary.

The passion of each speaker was evident, as participants expressed diverse viewpoints, questioning and analyzing conventional ideas. This event was made possible with generous sponsorship from T.I.M.E. and Biryanibaaz, whose support contributed to a successful and enriching experience for all.
