On the 25th of September, Nirvana 180, an event organized by 180 Degrees Consulting JMI, was held at the grand M.A. Ansari Auditorium, Jamia Millia Islamia. The event, tailor-made to bring awareness about career development, consulting, and social impact was especially directed towards freshers. Nirvana attracted more than 300 students and turned out to be an event that provided inspiration, innovation, and stepping stones for students to get one step up to embrace the new possibilities.
The event began at 11 a.m. with a welcome address by the Chief Guest, Prof. Mohammad Shakeel, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, who emphasized the importance of academic excellence and leadership. Delivering her speech Dr. Rahela Farooqi, Faculty Advisor and Director of the University Placement Cell mentioned the organisation’s role in guiding students through their career paths. Prof. Seemi Farhat Basir, the Guest of Honour, gave an inspiring talk on education and student empowerment.
The speaker session was followed by a series of engaging sessions held by professionals from various fields. Srishti Kataria, Director of Creative & People Operations at Unstop, spoke on “Interviewing 101”, offering insights on interview strategies and personal branding. Vivek Raina, Founder & CEO of Excitel shared his experience in building a 2000-crore startup and the importance of resource utilization involving people, wealth, and internet. Dr. Ruha Shadab, Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co. and founder of Led By Foundation, interacted with the audience on consulting, leadership, and social impact. Rahul Sharma, founder of Qurbat, emphasized the role of social media and practical work experience in entrepreneurship.
The president of 180 DC JMI, Sheikh Hamza, wrapped up the speaker sessions by discussing the organization’s vision, and its achievements, and announced live recruitments. A special speech was also given by Zubair Abdullah representing The Jamia Review (TJR), the media partner. He highlighted the publication’s achievements and encouraged students to get involved.
The second half of the program was conducted in the University Placement Cell, where students gathered to participate and witness various competitions. The Jamia Case Challenge, Jamia’s largest case study competition, brought together passionate students who presented their innovative ideas to top industry experts. Participants were tasked with addressing a real-time business problem faced by leading organisations and building a comprehensive solution.
The competition featured a panel of two judges: Mr. Adil Khan, a business undergraduate from JMI currently working at Bain & Company, and Miss Meghna Joshi, a social entrepreneur and founder of SWAN Livelihood.
In another room, Jamia’s Shark Tank based competition B-Plan was being held, where students presented their start-up ideas to the judges Adil Ahmed, a founding member of Gurucool and another judge. The event concluded with the announcement of the winners. Team Legal Eagles, Team Innovista and Team Mashwara Minds were declared the winners of Jamia Case Challenge whereas the winners of B-Plan were Team Dhaal, Team Lone Hustler and Team Pristine.
